Extra Credit will be offered at various times throughout the semester. Often times it will be open to everyone, but will be awarded only to the first student to successfully complete the task. However, there will be some extra credit offered to all students and awarded to all students who complete the task in the allotted time frame. Extra credit will be accrued in the Informal column in the gradebook until the end of the semester. At the end of the semester, the extra credit points will be added to one summative grade. Students should take advantage of all Extra Credit opportunities they can—there will not be any “final hour” extra credit assignments given since extra credit opportunities will be offered throughout the entire semester. EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES Cell Phones: There will be random cell phone checks. Any cell phone in the designated pouch on the door (without having to be reminded), will be rewarded with 5 bonus points. Art Competitions: Throughout the year, there will be opportunities for students to enter their work in various art competitions locally and even nationally. Students choosing to participate in these competitions, will be rewarded with extra credit points as long as they meet all the requirements set forth in the competition. Any artwork that fails to meet deadlines or general guidelines will forfeit any bonus points. There is no limit on how many competitions they enter. Information about competitions will be located on the class bulletin board, but students may also enter other competitions they find-- but students must bring the competition information to Mrs. Aurand or Ms. Worthy first. 5 points: Entering any competition with a viable piece of work. This means students must adhere to all of the guidelines and due dates. Some competitions have limits on how many entries per school are submitted only high quality pieces will be submitted to art shows/ competitions Therefore, students must get their piece approved by Mrs. Aurand or Mrs. Mack before submitting. They also must actually submit the work to earn the bonus points. 10 points: Students will receive an EXTRA 10 bonus points (on top of the 5 for submitting a piece) if it places in the competition. 5 points: Students will receive an additional 5 points (on top of the 5 for submitting and 10 for placing) if the piece WINS the competition.
