The purpose of a National Art Honor Society Chapter shall be to recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in art, foster excellence and a dedicated spirit to the pursuit of art, further creative abilities and talents of the Society’s members, as well as the school’s entire student enrollment. It shall also be to aid members in working toward the attainment of the highest potential in an art area, bring art to the attention of the school and community, increase an awareness of art in relation to other areas of the school curriculum; and further aesthetic awareness in all aspects of the school’s total program.
Admission to the National Art Honor Society will be by invitation only if students meet the criteria. It will be up to the student(s) if they accept the invitation. Students who do not get an invitation, but feel as though they meet the requirements for acceptance and would like to join NAHS just need to contact Mrs. Aurand or Ms. Worthy before August 16th.
To be considered, students must be at least a sophomore and have taken at least one Visual Arts class. Students must also maintain a 3.0 overall GPA and earn a B or better in every art class they are taking or have taken in the past. Students do not need to be currently enrolled in an art class.
Once accepted, students need to maintain their GPA and earn a minimum of 20 service points over the course of the year to remain a member in good standing. Seniors in good standing at the end of the year will earn honor cords for graduation.
Invitations for the 2023-2024 school year will go out by August 11, 2023
